At Yamuna Bank the line splits. Trains marked Noida Electronic City continue to Noida, while trains marked Vaishali take the branch through east Delhi to Ghaziabad. Check the destination on the train and the platform display before boarding at any station west of Yamuna Bank.

Timings and frequency
Blue Line trains usually run from about 6 AM to about 11 PM, with trains every few minutes at peak times. The first and last train differ by station and direction, and the times at Noida Electronic City and Dwarka Sector 21 are not the same as mid-line stations. If you are catching an early train or a late connection, look up your exact station in the DMRC app’s timetable or journey planner rather than relying on general network hours.
A short history of the Blue Line in Noida
The Blue Line first crossed into Uttar Pradesh on 12 November 2009, when the extension to Noida City Centre opened. For almost a decade City Centre was the end of the line. The section onward through Sector 34, Sector 52, Sector 61, Sector 59 and Sector 62 to Noida Electronic City opened on 9 March 2019, bringing the metro to Noida’s IT belt. The Aqua Line to Greater Noida had opened a few weeks earlier, in January 2019, and the two now meet at Sector 51/52.
Tips and mistakes to avoid
- Check the train’s destination. West of Yamuna Bank, a Blue Line train may be going to Vaishali, not Noida. The train front and platform screens show the destination.
- Avoid the rush if you can. The stretch from Noida Sector 18 to Rajiv Chowk is crowded on weekday mornings towards Delhi and evenings towards Noida. Travelling 30 minutes earlier or later helps.
- Board from the end station for a seat. If you live near Sector 62 or Electronic City, starting at Noida Electronic City usually gets you a seat towards Delhi.
- Use a smart card or app QR ticket. It saves time at token counters and gives a per-trip discount on the card.
- Do not confuse Sector 52 with Sector 51. Sector 52 is Delhi Metro Blue Line; Sector 51 is the Aqua Line. Buy the right ticket for each line.
- Plan the Aqua transfer. Aqua Line trains start later on Sundays than the Blue Line, so check both timetables for an early Sunday trip to Greater Noida.
- Ladies’ coach: The first coach in the direction of travel is reserved for women on Delhi Metro trains.

The Union Cabinet approved an 11.56 km Aqua Line extension from Noida Sector 142 to Botanical Garden in February 2026, with eight stations and a reported cost of about ₹2,254 crore.
